ABOUT
CLAUDIA LOUCH Claudia
Louch is a health-scientist who believes passionately in applying the
medicinal properties of plants and nature, to the ever widening range of
ailments and afflictions associated with modern living. She
has appeared on the successful BBC2 program ‘The Supersizers’,
and has contributed articles to the Observer, Healthy Magazine, Woman
and Home, Natural Health, Zest, Pregnancy & Birth and the Royal
College of Nursing Magazine ‘Family Health’. Claudia continues to
contribute to various health orientated publications and websites. Claudia
studied Phytomedicine (Botanical Medicine) at one of the recognised
leading universities in the country offering this specialisation, where
she attained a Bachelor of Science, Honours Degree. An indispensable
core to her studies was a rigorous, three-year clinical training program,
at the University’s walk-in Polyclinic and the successful achievement in
her final viva-exam, chaired by a UK qualified GP, in clinical diagnosis
and natural plant treatments. As a
result she is one of a small group of medical professionals in the country
allowed to diagnose, formulate and dispense botanical medicines to
qualified patients. During
this time Claudia’s interest in pharmacology and conventional drug
development grew, and she was awarded a bursary/studentship by the
world-renowned Guy's, King's and St Thomas School of Biomedical &
Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, to study
for a Masters Degree at King’s College London in Drug Discovery. Her
studies were funded by a major, UK based, medicine research company,
where she worked at their Immunopharmacology Department to study the
expression of cytokines in Rheumatoid Disease. Claudia was
subsequently awarded a Masters Degree, with Merit, in Drug Discovery, and
continues to have a strong professional interest in Immunology and
Virology. Claudia
thereafter continued her studies for a second Masters Degree at
King’s College London in the Department for Nutrition and
Dietetics, where she developed a strong interest in Obesity, Weight
Management and Allergies. Since
then she has furthered her professional development at UCL and Leeds
University, the latter through a British Dietetic Association
approved course in Clinical Nutrition. Her
current postgraduate research into Allergic Disease is being
undertaken at the School for Professional Development at Imperial
College London, where she currently focuses on Allergic
Gastrointestinal, Respiratory and Skin Disease. HER
CLINIC Claudia
runs a very busy private clinic in Mayfair London, just minutes from
Harley Street and Oxford Circus. She will see self-referred,
private patients i.e. without a referral from a medical professional. Years
of scientific laboratory practice in academia and medical research, involving
pharmacology,
human nutrition and botanical medicine, together with her practical
clinical knowledge, are incorporated in her own practice and make her
a renowned and leading health scientist and contemporary practitioner.
Her
immense knowledge of natural plant precursors to conventional drugs
and the effects on these on the human body enables her, to prescribe,
formulate and dispense botanical medicines to her patients. Claudia’s
background as a pharmacologist enables her to advise patients of potential
interactions between plant based and allopathic medicines, as well as
on the side-effects of conventional medicines alone, which makes Claudia a
unique practitioner in her field, able to cross over and bring
together the boundaries of natural and conventional medication to the
benefit of her patients. Claudia
uses the latest diagnostic tools and laboratory tests to develop a
comprehensive understanding of the health status of each patient prior
formulating any external and/or internal remedies or customised diets.
Claudia uses the same tools to monitor and support each patient
throughout their treatment and/or diet programme. Claudia is very pleased
and well accustomed to communicating with the patients' GP or other
health-specialist, if this is required. Please
note that her’s is a private clinic and as such, her services are not
covered by the NHS. Some
private international
medical insurances will reimburse Claudia Louch’s fees for medical
problems (please contact your insurer for guidance). However some purely
UK-based private insurances, might not cover her services. Feel
free to contact her for inquiries. As
Claudia will see self-referred, private patients, she can, at the
patient’s discretion, keep the latter’s GP informed of any diagnosis,
test results or treatment, unless specifically requested, not to do so. Nutrition
